Demand Flexibility Revenue for Multi-Site Ops - AP Prokure
How care homes, hotels, forecourts and restaurants can earn from the Demand Flexibility Service by shifting or increasing energy use on demand.

Your electricity meter only runs one way. It doesn't have to.
Every site in your estate is a load the grid can use. Fridges that can coast for twenty minutes. Water heaters that can wait. Laundry that can run at 2pm instead of 5pm. To the National Energy System Operator, that flexibility is worth paying for.
In March 2026 Ofgem approved a new-look Demand Flexibility Service. Businesses can still be paid to shift use away from peak — and, for the first time, paid to increase use when the grid has surplus power. The minimum size dropped from 1MW to 0.1MW, which puts a cluster of care homes, hotels, forecourts or restaurants within reach through a supplier or aggregator.
Most operators never see a penny of it. Not because the money isn't there, but because nobody in the business knows which kit can flex, which supply contract allows it, or who signed what. Flexibility is a revenue stream that lives or dies on contract visibility.
The question is no longer "how do we use less energy?" It's "when does our energy use earn us money?"
What the Portal Does
● A full estate audit that maps flexible loads — refrigeration, hot water, laundry, HVAC, EV charging — site by site
● Energy contracts checked for flexibility and export terms before renewal, not after
● Whole-of-market access to aggregators and smart controls, backed by £35M of group buying power
● Every flexibility agreement tracked to renewal in one live dashboard, alongside your supply contracts
The Cost of Getting This Wrong
● Care homes: laundry and hot-water loads running through the 4–7pm peak every day, paying top rates for flexibility someone else gets paid for
● Hotels and QSR: kitchens and HVAC that nobody flexes, so the estate stays a pure cost centre on the meter
● Forecourts: a 24/7 refrigeration load locked into a supply contract that may not allow third-party flexibility at all
Book a demonstration — 15 minutes shows you what a spreadsheet never could.
